Often, people with diabetes have elevated cholesterol levels, predisposing them to coronary artery disease. A 12-week double-blind study on 29 patients who had non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) and high cholesterol levels showed very positive results. The patients given 5 milligrams of Policosanol twice daily reduced their total cholesterol by 17.5 percent and their LDL cholesterol by 21.8 percent.

Policosanol exerts antioxidant effects and it controls the liver's production and breakdown of cholesterol. Exciting research shows that Policosanol may lower serum cholesterol levels, and reduce platelet aggregation (stickiness); it may reduce the amount of cholesterol in the liver, heart and fatty tissue. 綠茶由於它高濃度的綠茶多酚 (polyphenols)，使它成為了基準的抗氧劑。綠茶多酚(polyphenols)，特別是兒茶素(catechins)，具清除自由基及提供身體強力的抗氧化作用。自由基是體內正常代謝反應時就已存在的物質，但飲食、職業和環境污染更會造成體內產生大量自由基，此時這些自由基會攻擊細胞及器官，造成細胞死亡、老化或突變，當食入綠茶後，因為多酚類物質可經胃腸道吸收並產生生物效用，尤其可對細胞遺傳物質DNA進行絕佳的保護。此外，體內綠茶多酚的濃度可從血、尿、糞便中測得，當體內綠茶多酚類濃度高時，即能避免大量自由基對身體的傷害，因此攝食綠茶後，能提供強力的保護作用。

某些研究甚至顯示，綠茶多酚的抗氧化功效勝過最強的兩種抗氧化劑：維他命Ｃ和Ｅ。有研究指出，皮膚上塗抹了綠茶多酚的動物，即使接觸某些致癌物和過量的日曬，也不至長出皮膚腫瘤。

建議方法 :
